Highland park is a well followed distillery, the distillery is found at the top of Scotland on the island of Orkney. The distillery is one of the last remaining distilleries that still have a floor maltings, this is now a dying art due to the fact it is a lot of hard work, and it is cheaper to buy it in.
So the 12yo is the entry level of the cord range, bottled at 40%, it has a lovely golden tint.
Nose.. It has a lovely citrus scent rising out of the gentle smokey aroma, vanilla and honey with a lovely floral note sends your taste buds watering.
Palate.. Candied oranges, dates, honey gathered from moss, vanilla, even a little apple pops up.
Finish.. The finish is drying, medium but enjoyable.
Thoughts.. As the entry level you can not fault this whisky, it is a lovely smokey whisky, adored by many. This is one of those whiskys that you should find in most whisky cupboards, if it is not in yours then it should be..
Greetings! Very helpful notes in this particular review! It’s the little flavours and aromas that will make the biggest changes. Thanks a lot for sharing!
