This is another bottling from the Highland distillery of Tullibardine. The core range contains a bourbon matured, sherry finish, Sauternes finish and this Burgundy finished whisky, matured in bourbon casks before spending around 12 months in a 228litre Red Burgundy wine casks from Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet.
Bottled at 43%Abv.
Nose.. A lovely fruity nose greets you, it is full of summer scents, raspberry, red and black berries, red grape, vanilla and a little orange peel.
Palate.. The palate continues on from the fruity nose, the fresh fruits along with vanilla, some toffee and a gentle spicy taste, apple pie with cinnamon and ginger, some almond and soft oak in the background.
Finish.. Smooth and full of fruity notes with a little spicy kick..
Thoughts.. This red wine finish really does compliment the Tullibardine whisky. It delivers a scrumptious sweet, easy drinking whisky, in no way overpowered by the wine finish, subtle layers make this intriguing. While remaining balanced and very enjoyable.
Interesting review, I like the sound of this
