Highland Park is very well know for the limited editions that celebrate anything Norse and this latest limited release is no exception.. “Fire” is the second and final release of this latest series and is intended to explore the re – birth of the world according to Norse mythology.  This “Fire edition takes its meaning from the Fire realm – Muspelheim ( also known as Muspell ) is one of the 9 worlds in Norse mythology and it is believed that the sun and stars originated from this world.

This “Fire ” edition is a 15yo and is matured in re -fill port wine seasoned casks and is bottled at 45.3% abv..

Nose.. instantly fruity with pear, apricot and apple.. winter berries along with some vanilla, toffee and all wrapped up in that typical Highland park smoke..,

Palate.. More spicey than the nose would suggest with oak and subtle smoke flavours.. Hints of dark toffee, vanilla and fruit pie with cinnamon and burnt Demerara sugar cooked over a rustic fire of  charcoal..

Finish.. Medium with lingering oak and wood spices.

Thoughts.. This is another typical kind of expression released from Highland park with a intriguing twist.. The packaging is striking and will most probably be snapped up by the thousands of collectors.. Is it any good ?  If your a fan of Highland park then I’m sure you will love this too.. It has a lot of the Highland park characteristics but it does have a rather wallet busting price tag if your buying to drink..

Thanks go out to Highland park for the official sample..
