Glenlivet 27yo.. That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

This year I decided to buy an Advent calendar for the first time and what better place to start than the “ That Boutiquey Whisky Company” advent calendar .. This years (2017) calendar has a number of new releases hidden within and surprisingly behind door number 1 was one of those new ones.

Glenlivet 27yo is the first Glenlivet expression to be released by that Boutiquey whisky company and this Sherry cask is a rather good start to what will hopefully be the first of many..

Bottled at 48.7 % this Glenlivet 27yo Sherry cask is naturally coloured and is from one single Sherry cask..

Nose.. Dates and aniseed.. loads of aniseed.. Dark chocolate, coffee, stewed apples with cinnamon and Demerara sugar.. liquorice torpedo sweets, old leather, Bon bons (sweets) dunnage warehouse and Manuka honey.

Palate.. The spices just enhance the dried fruits and aniseed notes, dark chocolate with candied orange and exotic fruits start to come through with a little coffee and old leather..

Finish.. lingering fruits and spices.

Thoughts.. This  Glenlivet 27 yo from That Boutiquey Whisky Company is one fine whisky, it just shows how good the whisky can be from Glenlivet..

That Boutiquey whisky company do seem to be able to pick some great casks and this is just another one that impressed me immensely.. The flavours are well balanced and the aromas just make you want to dive in..

Superb whisky !!

It’s still not too late to treat yourself to one of these Advent Calendars.. You know it’s going to be full of Boutiqueyness..

This sample is from the 2017 Boutiquey Whisky Company advent calendar.

I feel really tempted to try this Glenlivet after reading your words. I have not enjoyed a lot of whisky from them before but i did enjoy the Nadurra and the sherry Nadurra.

This sounds like a better bottle than that founders reserve . Great piece.
