Well what do we have here ? Only a well sherried 9 yo whisky from a secret distillery somewhere in the Speyside region.. Hmmm which one could it be.. Looking at the label we have red doors but unfortunately so do a few of the distilleries so no help there.. Let’s see what we can find within the bottle..
Nose.. Dates, raisins and a little plum note are instantly noticeable with burnt sugar, candied orange, dark chocolate and coffee grinds.. Old cigar box scents and a little earthy note rise with elegance on the back of aniseed and sticky toffee sauce.
Palate.. Just as the nose suggests.. Big sherry notes with attitude..
Finish.. Drying spice with a touch of oak.
Secret Distillery #1 batch 2 from That Boutiquey Whisky Company..
Thoughts.. Well this is a cheeky youngster that certainly feels a little older than the 9 yo statement, the flavours are certainly well balanced with plenty of depth.. There is a complex array of aromas and flavours that really allow this to shine, whichever distillery this is I suspect they have a very good cask buying programme and most probably use rather a lot of oloroso casks.. Possibly this Distillery only puts out sherried whisky.. well that’s my thoughts anyway.. Whichever Distillery it is I wouldn’t worry too much.. just pour yourself a dram, sit back and enjoy this..
Hi Freddy..
The naming is both speculation and a little help from those who might know.. Certain distilleries do not want the name revealed but it’s not hard to work them out..

Hello ocdwhisky, I do understand this is glenfarclas but is there any real proof or could it be just a ploy to charge more? By the way it does sound like a great whisky still.

Spoke to yourself at York at the weekend when you shared a dram of this, bought it straight away and I’m over the moon with my purchase.
Great work !

Is this what you had in Liverpool at the weekend? I’m sure I tried it and I liked it. Not sure about those labels
