Douglas Laing’s Unveils Scallywag “Chocolate Edition” Speyside Malt in line with World Chocolate Day.
As thousands around the world prepare to mark World Chocolate Day on July 7th, Douglas Laing & Co, leading independent Scotch Whisky firm, reveals Scallywag’s Chocolate Edition, a limited edition within the Scallywag Speyside Malt range, exclusively for DouglasLaing.com.
Matured predominantly in Spanish Sherry butts, the resulting Malt Whisky has a deep cocoa and red fruit character, which inspired the creation of this bottling marking World Chocolate Day. Just 300 bottles are available, each one individually numbered and packaged with a gold foiled label and printed gift bag. The mouth-watering label design features the much-loved Scallywag Fox Terrier amidst a tantalisingly tempting melted chocolate backdrop, said to reflect the mocha-rich and decadent spirit inside. In line with the family firm’s ethos to bottle Scotch Whisky “as natural as it gets”, the latest release is proudly offered without chill-filtration and at high strength of 48% alcohol.
Cara Laing, self-confessed sweet tooth and Director of Whisky in the family business, comments on the special bottling:
“The unique recipe that Fred and I have created for our latest release combines heavily Sherried Single Malts exclusively from Speyside Distilleries. Dram-packed with decadent notes of rich mocha, caramelised nuts and dark chocolate shavings, it’s a wonderful Whisky for World Chocolate Day, and indeed any special occasion!”
