16 Year Old Longmorn – 7-243

Distillery.. Longmorn

Region.. Speyside

Age.. 16 years

Abv.. 59.8%

Outturn.. 396 Bottles

Casks.. 2x2nd fill bourbon casks finished in one PX butt

Bottler.. SMWS

Nose.. This is deliciously light and fragrant, Ginger biscuits dipped in coffee, cream soda and a little hint of candied oranges.. Chocolate mousse infused with vanilla, orange delight the senses along with black forest gateau..

Palate.. The ginger feels a little more pronounced here with a nice prickle, orange peels give some bitterness whilst a soft sticky pudding note with vanilla custard brings in some sweetness..

Finish.. Wood tannins and soft fruits linger..

Thoughts.. Longmorn has been a favourite for me with most of what i have tasted being light and easy drinking but this has that added extra with the PX finish.. Its not exactly a sherry bomb but it has added that extra dimension and the initial heat from the ginger really gives this that nice little kick that just opens your eyes..

Very easy drinking whisky with a twist of attitude..

Sample taken from the SMWS ” The Gathering” Pack..
