Glentauchers
Located in the Speyside region, the Glentauchers distillery was founded in 1897, designed by John Alcock, with the building work overseen by Charles Doig & Son. It started to produce spirit when James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and three members of Glentauchers Distillery Co. joined hands with Glentachers a year after that.
It was mothballed by United Distillers in 1985, and sold to Allied Distillers in 1989. It is not often you will find an official bottling from this distillery as they are rarely bottled, although there are more and more starting to show up on the indie bottler scene. With most of the whisky produced being used in blended whiskies it hard to understand why such a great produce is still going unnoticed by so many.
The distillery has three spirit stills and three wash stills, with a total production capacity of 4,500,000 litres of pure alcohol per year.

21 year old Glentauchers Batch 8 – That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Distillery.. Glentauchers
Region.. Speyside
Age.. 21 Years
Abv.. 47.1%
Batch.. 8
Outturn.. 803 Bottles
Nose.. Floral and sweet with a delicious Fudge aroma that mingles with a field full of violets scent. Heather honey, fresh cut hay, dusty straw and green apples just as you bite into them make this whisky very inviting.
Palate.. Spicy at first with some citrus bitterness that then leads into some candy sweetness, vanilla custard, brandy snaps full of cream and some oak tannins i
lurking in the background.
Finish.. Spicy
Thoughts.. Glentauchers always delights my senses but give me an aged Glentauchers and i melt.. This hits every spot, it beckons you over with a gentle smile, slowly seduces you before just putting you under its spell..
Another cracking whisky from the Boutique-y Advent Calendar..
As always Matt from THE DRAMBLE will be giving his thoughts so go check it out..
It’s always quality liquid

I pass this distillery regularly. Going from Mullen to Keith the bend in the road used to have a horrendous camber that took the unwary motorist into the middle of the road if going around it at adventurous speeds unconnected to the national speed limit. Almost as thrilling as the whisky. I’ve never had a bad Glentauchers yet.
